After gaining back most of the weight I lost last year, I’m trying to do something about it again. Aesthetically, I’m kind of like…meh. You don’t like it? Don’t look. But my blood pressure is jacked up again, my return to drowning myself in iced coffees laden with caffeine and fatty cream has brought the insomnia raging back, and carrying a laundry basket up out of the basement now requires a recovery time at the top of the stairs before I can get it to the couch.
One of my issues has always been consuming nothing but iced coffees until about 1-2pm, when I suddenly need to eat all the food things in the house. So I’m trying Shakeology, alongside getting back into WW tracking, and…*drum roll*…a workout video. I picked a dance video because, hey, I dance in my kitchen all the time. Sounds like my kind of exercise!
Things I’ve learned this morning:
I have no rhythm. At all.
Shaking it to Luke Bryan in the kitchen and a hip-hop style “dance” workout? So not the same thing.
I don’t know my left from my right under pressure.
My ceiling fan is way too low.
Taz isn’t very bright, but he has great reflexes.
I’m supposed to move on to the 2nd tomorrow, but I think I’ll be stuck on the first one for at least a week since the only move I actually mastered was walking in place.

I hear ya. I gained back weight that I had lost so I decided to get back on the stationary bike. I pop in a DVD and watch an episode of something. TV show choice has been Army Wives. When I’m done with that I’ll re-watch Gilmore Girls for the millionth time.

I got rid of the gazelle exercise thingy in my bedroom so I could move a comfy reading chair and ottoman to that spot. I didn’t think the 20 minutes a few times a week was making that much difference, but apparently it was. Need to find a new exercise routine. Or walk the dog more than once a day.

Slo-mo counts. It’s the only “mo” I have. And as for knowing my right from my left, well, as long as I’m consistent I count that too.

I’ve always thought that some movements is a helluva lot better than none, so…keep at it until you are comfortable to move forward!

I’ve given up on the “dance” workout and I’ve gone back to shaking it in the kitchen with Luke. I’m going with the “any movement is better than none” philosophy.
And yay, Shari! That’s great!
