Shannon Stacey

In which Shannon learns a lesson

I’m down 3.4 pounds this week. (This was my post-surgery recovery week, so take the number for what it’s worth.) That puts me officially over the 40 pounds lost mark. Barely. 40.6 to be exact.

What’s the lesson I learned? No more clothes shopping online until I’ve gone to a store and tried some things on. When I look in the mirror, I don’t really see a difference. I don’t really feel any different, though I know my blood pressure’s a little more under control.

So when I buy a pair of swim shorts online in the size I thought I’d be comfortable wearing, I get this:

Oops. And also, yay! So that’s what 184.4 looks like. (And the back of the t-shirt says: And Peyton sucks, too.)

How are you all doing?

Well hey, there’s a lesson I wouldn’t mind learning! You look great!

(But Peyton is still The Man. Sorry! :D )

    Dumbass.

Also….yay! You look amazing! And yes, go to a freakin’ store and try clothes on so you know what size you are. Also, sizes vary by manufacturer, so you really should shop and buy AT a store unless you’re buying t-shirts, which is about the only thing I’ll buy online, and even that’s iffy.

Yay again for your weight loss. You’re doing so great. :-)

You look AMAZING, Shannon! Major congrats on your weight loss–you really are so inspiring, especially to someone like me who has a looooooong way to go on WW. (But I did lose 3.5 lbs this week so yay on that!)

    YAY!! 40 lbs is AWESOME!!

I’ve been EXACTLY the same (down to the .6) for 3 weeks now. UGH!! I’m discontinuing some meds that are known for weight gain (it’s time for discontinuation, I’m not doing it b/c of the weight gain!) so I’m hoping that will help. I know it will take a few months to see a difference but I hope it kicks me out of this plateau.

    Again, YAY YOU!!

Congratulations Shannon….you’ve done so well and have certainly inspired me to try and do something about those extra kgs I’m carrying around since the birth of my last child. I really want to achieve some weight loss and also making healthier choices as I approach 40 on my next birthday, because I do believe it gets harder and harder as I get older.

Picture me doing handsprings and jumping jacks and all sorts of cheering stands to congratulate you on sticking to your guns (and your plan) and reaching your goal–go you, all the way!

And…what Jaci said. Until you have tried all sorts of clothes (different brands too) to get a more accurate idea of the new you, it’s a good idea to refrain from online clothes shopping.

Yay!!! I’m looking forward to when I have to buy new clothes because all of mine are falling off. As it is, I had to do that with a pair of shorts, but the shorts I replaced were big in the waist in the first place. Damn hips. I weighed in yesterday and I’m :thisclose: to breaking into a new decade. I’m hoping to be halfway through that decade by the time of my cousin’s wedding in three weeks, but at this point, I’ll be happy just to be *in* the decade :D Also, I managed to lose the last of the weight I gained back that week after BEA, and am now at my lowest level since starting this journey!

Congrats Shannon!! That is amazing. Um, I’d be happy to meet you for lunch and do some shopping. I know you hate it, but we can make it fun. I promise.

Sorry I disappeared! We had family join us at camp and I’m still playing catch-up.

Thanks for the woo-hoos and a big woo-hoo to everybody doing this along with me. Next week I might share a before picture I’ve had on my phone for a while now. It’ll be inspiring, trust me. And I haven’t even exercised yet! (I need to soon, though. Try to tighten up some saggy stuff.)

The most satisfying thing for me personally is how many pictures I have with my boys now. I was never willing to have my picture taken, but now I’m constantly handing the camera off. “Take a picture of me and the boys” or “I want a picture with SK”. I’ve lost enough family members now to know those pictures will be precious some day and it makes me sad they won’t have pics of me with them when they were little.

Which is dumb because whether or not I liked what I saw, they loved that woman in the photos. Take pictures of you and your kids, even if they make you cringe.

Oh, and Lee, we might need to compare schedules. I could use some fashion sense at Steeplegate and, as the short kid delighted in telling me today, 18 days until we leave.

Hi, Shannon! I just finished reading Yours To Keep, the first book of yours that I’ve ever read, and I am hooked:). You did a fantastic job on the book AND on the weight loss!

I loved the sticky notes thing Sean did. It was so sweet;)

And now I’m off to buy the other two books in this series.

BTW, I know exactly how you feel about never wanting to have your picture taken, and your comment about having your picture taken anyway is a very good way of looking at it!

Hi, Neat post. There’s an issue with your web site in web explorer, may test this? IE still is the marketplace leader and a huge portion of folks will leave out your excellent writing due to this problem.
