Yet another 2011 reading recap

Random: On Dec 31st of 2004, my husband was called out on an emergency service call, leaving me bored and alone on New Year’s Eve. I decided, “hey, why not start a blog?” and my first real post went up January 1st of 2005, so today marks seven years of blogging for me.

Anyway, according to my Goodreads shelf, I only read 38 books in 2011. On the one hand, that makes me a little sad. On the other, I was pretty selective-slash-lucky and most of those reads were excellent.

Two were audiobooks: Infamous by Suzanne Brockmann (Kindle/Nook) and Welcome to Temptation by Jennifer Crusie (Kindle/Nook), both of which I gave five stars.

Three were rereads, which is something I very rarely do: Ransom by Julie Garwood (Kindle/Nook) and, because I had a plan to reread the entire series, Naked in Death (Kindle/Nook) and Glory in Death (Kindle/Nook) by JD Robb. I still plan to reread all of the In Death series…at some point.

And my favorite read of 2011…

The McCabe Trilogy by Maya Banks: In Bed With a Highlander (Kindle/Nook), Seduction of a Highland Lass (Kindle/Nook) and Never Love a Highlander (Kindle/Nook). (Yes, it’s three books, but because it’s a titled series/trilogy, I can count it as one. I cheat like that.)

As 2011 switches over to 2012, I’m reading Heart of Steel by Meljean Brook (Kindle/Nook) which is amazing so far. This doesn’t surprise me as The Iron Duke (Kindle/Nook) was my favorite book of 2010.

What are you reading to ring in the new year?

I like Maya Banks, but haven’t tried the McCabe trilogy yet. I think it’s due to a surfeit of highlander books.

Probably the book I liked the most in 2011 was Deborah Harkness’, “A Discovery of Witches:. Can’t wait for the second book.

My top priority read is EL NARCO. It’s a LibraryThing Early Reviewer copy.

I started the Adrien English mystery series by Josh Lanyon right after Christmas and I’m the 5th book now, so it’s safe to say they are addictingly good!

I’ve got your Carina Press Holiday Kisses anthology up next.

By the way, have you tried the In Death series on audio? I think it’s PHENOMENAL. I love the narrator’s voices for each of the characters. It’s how I get housework done. I highly recommend it.

About an hour or so ago, I just finished Heart of Steel! And loved it! It is officially logged as my first finished read of 2012.

I’m reading Cover Me by Catherine Mann. I can’t believe I read more books this year than you–I got to read 80! Of course, I probably bought five times that many…

I’m finally finished adding all of the books I purchased at the various sales (Harlequin, ARe, Kobo) in December into Calibre and on my Sony.

Today I reread Exclusively Yours as my pretty print copy arrived in the mail on Thursday. Next up for me will probably be Christine Feehan’s Spirit Bound.
