Today’s school lunch menu:

I told the Short Kid he should hold out for “GRAPES, brown around the stem” or for “GRAPES, already fermenting”, but he just rolled his eyes at me and went for the cold lunch.
And Holiday Sparks, my 2010 Christmas novella, is only $1.99 for Kindle and Nook right now!

Our school doesn’t even attempt Tuna sandwiches. My oldest is in Middle School (7th Grade) and I’ve never seen that on the menu. I’m guessing it used to be but the sheer amount of cold lunches on that day changed things?! LOL I like tuna, but I’m the only one in this household that does.

And, Lynda, if you hadn’t found me, my husband and our fellow campers would have missed out on your great chili recipe, so yay Holiday Sparks!
On the one hand, I respect that our school district is trying to “healthy-up” school lunches, but I think they’ve lost sight of the demographic. Tuna. Broccoli salad. Brown rice pilaf. Chinese pie. My youngest has gone from loving hot lunch to being cold lunch all but two or three days per month.
And it’s sad but true that, right now, school hot lunch is the primary meal of the day for some of our kids. I wish they could find a better balance between kid-friendly food and not crap.
