Post-Irene Monday

Well, I’ve got plenty of water to take up to camp and I won’t run out of batteries any time soon. Our cable and internet went out yesterday but they’re back this morning and, considering how many of my fellow East Coasters are waking up to devastation, I’m certainly not going to complain about missing Big Brother. The videos this morning of what happened to Vermont and New York break my heart. So much destruction. Towns destroyed, lives lost and history swept away.

Today’s a beautiful day, but the cancellation of the first day of school stands. I think it probably has something to do with the fact that, even though our area didn’t suffer much damage, NH overall is in a state of emergency. And I know at least one back road was closed, so maybe the road agent has to inspect all the bus routes before they can send them out. Regardless, my sons got a reprieve.

And the rain let up earlier than expected, so Mini won in the Irene versus Mini’s bladder battle.

Glad you are okay. We had minor damage in my area of NJ, but some are without power and we have not rail service. Sending prayers for all who have been affected by the storm.

I am in southern NH and have been using my generator for power since Sunday morning. I am not complaining since that is my only inconvenience amidst the flooding and devastation. Glad to hear you are doing well.
