True Confession: Words(less) With Friends

I’m a sucker for fun apps, especially when it seems like everybody in the world is talking about them. I overdosed on the Angry Birds Kool-Aid. I’ve Cut The Rope a few times. I’ve even been a Fruit Ninja, though I gave up on that one pretty quickly since it seemed…pointless.

Right now it seems Words With Friends is all the rage. Basically it’s Scrabble without using the word Scrabble and you can play against your friends. (Hence it not being called Words With Yourself, I guess.) Who doesn’t love Scrabble? Hell, I even mentioned it in both Exclusively Yours and Yours To Keep.

So do I have the Words With Friends app? No. Why? Because I’m not good at Scrabble. At all. Turning words into books I can do. Turning letter tiles into words? I suck like a turbo-charged Dyson.

It’s embarrassing, really.

How about you? Do you rock the Scrabble board? What’s your favorite board game? (I’m partial to Monopoly…until I start losing and then the board has a tendency to suffer a tragic and accidental overturning.)

Edited to add: My very favorite board game is probably Trivial Pursuit. THAT I’m good at.

Ha! I am the queen of the 3 letter words on Scrabble. My husband thinks it’s hysterical! I’m not huge on board games of any time but I do love the card game 5 Crowns. It’s a fun game to play while slightly intoxicated. :)

Backgammon. Me and my husband play it for blood. It’s vicious!

Dirty scrabble I could play! I know lots of good dirty words. But real Scrabble kicks my butt.

I’ve never played backgammon. Somebody tried to teach me once, but it didn’t stick.

I have Boggle and Bejeweled on my iThings. Love them!

I’ve never heard of 5 Crowns. Rummy’s about the only card game I know. And Uno. :)

Come on down to Branson and I will proceed to kick your ass at Trivial Pursuit!!

My new obsession is Spite and Malice, a card game…

I had to stop Words w/Friends b/c I had too many games going and it seemed to consume my life for about a week. Went cold turkey and have been free for nearly a year…

I like Trivial Pursuit. Usually we play with one board and people can choose from the various sets of questions. We have multiple (the TV edition, 1980s, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, etc) versions of the game.

We have one of those fancy Scrabble boards with the grooved squares so the letters don’t move or fall off. But since I am the only one who likes to play the actual game, we mostly use it to write notes for visitors or for parties. Like when my brother and SIL visited, we had their first names, their daughter’s and cats’ names, etc all laid out like a finished Scrabble game.

I’m not really a fan of computer games and don’t have any on my phone. But when I’m home, I’ve been known to play the Mah Jongg toychest and dimensions games at the AARP site. Sad I know, but my dad got me addicted to them.

Trivial Pursuit is my favorite board game. Love it. I’m also hooked on Words With Friends, but my new obsession is Hanging with Friends (a version of hangman you can play with…well…friends).

I’m TOTALLY addicted to words with friends right now! I also tend to obsess about one app and then move on to the next, so Words comes after a shameful couple months with Cityville. I think words will hang on a bit longer, though. I’ve always loved Scrabble but no one around me does. Words is a great solution for me.

I love Words With Friends! And let me tell you, I’m absolutely horrible at Scrabble. I always get destroyed by whoever I play with, but it’s all good and fun since… it’s with friends!

If they made a Trivial Pursuit app I’d be all over that. I’m the queen of board games.

I’ve had the strongest urge to break out the board games, but I don’t have time right now! Maybe I’ll sneak in some time this weekend.

If they made a Trivial Pursuit app I’d be all over that.

I don’t know about Android, but both of my sons and my younger sister and I all have the Trivial Pursuit app on our iPod Touches! It’s pretty fun, too, though it’s obviously not as good as the real board game version.
