Stuck in clothes

In rushing around just a little too much this morning, I tried to get dressed after my shower without being totally dry and ended up stuck in my twisted clothes. While muttering bad words, I also remembered one of my favorite scenes in the Devlin Group series, from No Surrender. Gallagher and Carmen have survived a helicopter crash in the White Mountains, but she ended up soaked and it’s cold and she’s fading fast. Gallagher has to get her dry and warm before she goes from mumbling about making s’mores to dead.

Operation: Getting Carmen Naked had been in the planning stages for a long time, but the original mission parameters had called for her being a lot more awake and a little less frigid.

After Hell Week, SEAL service and eleven years with the Devlin Group, Gallagher would never have imagined the hardest thing he’d ever do was get a wet sports bra over the head of an uncooperative woman while trying not to look at her breasts.

Not that he didn’t want to see them, but ogling a half-frozen, unconscious woman would make him a sick bastard. Plus she kept muttering something about finding a sharp stick, and he wanted no part of that.

Once he was done doing battle with the spandex or whatever from hell, he laid her down on the emergency blanket from his pack he’d spread in a snow-free spot. Then he wiped the sweat from his forehead with the sleeve of his coat.

Bottom half next.

Jesus.

I’ll be (mostly) offline this weekend, spending some quality time with the family (though I’ll no doubt cheat a little). Hope you all have a great weekend!

Good luck with the weather! We baled on the lake in favor of getting a bunch of !#$% done so we can go away next weekend (eek 4th of July ALREADY???) with a clear conscience.

Loved this scene in No Surrender. Devlin books were how I found you in the first place.

Please ma’am, can I have some more????

Awesome scene. I haven’t read the Devlin books – must get my hands on them now that I’ve gobbled (and loved) what there is of the Kowalskis. :)
