Tumbling without a mat

A short time ago, I signed up for a Tumblr account. Why? I’m not really sure. I’d seen it mentioned quite a bit on Twitter and around the ‘net. I’d clicked on it a few times, but didn’t really get it. I don’t really need another blogging platform because I have this blog and, no matter what social media platforms come and go, this blog is my living room. (You can put your feet on my coffee table if you want. Mine are.)

Then I was doing some Googling of Android apps because one thing I can’t find for my Droid X is a way to easily manage my Facebook Page. My personal profile, yes. But page, no. Tumblr came up as a way to easily post to both Twitter and a Facebook Page, plus when I see a social media platform being mentioned a lot, I think I should grab my name, so I signed up.

So now I have another place to put “stuff”. At first I was trying to find a way to share photos from the RWA National conference with my Twitter followers and Facebook readers, but my attendance is looking on the darker side of iffy now. But I’ll probably still use it as a quick and easy way to update both places for now.

One thing I haven’t found yet is a way to have Tumblr posts cross-post to this blog, but it does have an RSS feed. If you don’t follow me on Twitter or Facebook, but want to see the occasional tidbits I post there, you can subscribe and it’ll automagically show up in your Reader just like this blog.

Anybody out there Tumblr-fluent? What do you use it for?

I’m not. I figured it was just another photo posting site. You mean it’s something else? Maybe I’ll give it a look.
