Boys and birthdays

Last night we packed up our cake and presents and headed to Ma’s house for the Short Kid’s birthday party. It’s a little easier on everybody to have it there so Hurricane WeeBS can be contained in her natural habitat. (I can’t believe she’s going to be three next month!)

Here’s a shot of the birthday boy thinking he’s cute:

What I think when I look at it is yes, he’s cute, but how long as it been since I remembered to get his hair cut?

Anyway. His big ticket gift was a Nintendo DSi XL which, by the time we wrapped up the cake and ice cream and stopped on the way home for dinner, he opened at bedtime. We gave him a few extra minutes because we’re not heartless, but this morning he came down the stairs clutching his stomach and giving me puppy dog eyes.

I don’t even think so, dude. The first words my son heard on his first full day of being ten: “If you stay home sick today, no gaming systems. That includes the DS.”

The first words he said: “I had to try.”

So cute! Gotta love boys and birthdays…and I love the fact that he “tried” to be sick for a free day of games!

    He’s TEN????

Holy moly. I think I remember him being…six? And I regularly follow your blog, no less.

Sad. That I somehow missed it, not that he’s ten. ;-)

My oldest will fake being *healthy* to avoid missing school. SK, though…he’s the hooky king.

And Karen, you and I first “met” when I found the eHqn community. The short kid was not quite one and a half.
