Columbus Day is a little bittersweet for us. It’s a four day weekend and the heat of summer’s behind us, so the riding’s great. (Although the heat of summer was a little too far behind us this year. Brrrrr.) Sadly, it’s also the weekend we have to winterize the camper which means the switch from family ATV fun to Dad’s snowmobiling fun is almost upon us.

The Short Kid made a friend. Our poor dragonfly’s rear wings were pretty beat up, and he didn’t seem to want to fly away.

When my husband tried to give him a gentle nudge, he exchanged the blue sweatshirt for a warm perch. Eventually we found a nice tree branch in a sunny spot that still boasted a few bugs of the flying variety and relocated him.

Not a great shot, but this is not quite sunset. New Hampshire in the foreground and Vermont in the background.

Now I need to find some ATV parts online because my husband’s got a CV joint gone on his King Quad and, if we don’t get it fixed, he’s going to want to take my Rincon out bashing through the woods and over rocks and into the mud with his insane riding cohorts.

Poor Dragonfly!
It’s lucky to find SK and be placed where bugs are aplenty!
