A conversation with the Tall Kid

Last night, while watching House, I got a little sniffly watching two parents being essentially forced to choose between their children.

TK: What’s the matter?

Me: Hello. It’s sad!

TK: You realize it’s just a TV show, right? In real life, they’re fine. I promise.

Me: What’s the point of experiencing any medium if you’re not going to let it engage you emotionally?

TK: Time expenditure.

Have I mentioned how much I hate watching television with the Tall Kid?

First, he’s a teenager, and they always have to pretend they’re above it all.

    Second, he’s a guy.

Nature does this so you don’t sob your heart out when he leaves for college. By that time you’re ready to boot his ass out the door and be rid of him. ;-)

    Oh dear lord!

(and what Jaci said–not that it actually worked for me, mind you)

    Oh heavens!

Agree with what Jackie says, plus…at some point the poor dear will have a break down over something Totally important/touching to him, but erm, not so high on other people’s sentiment meters.

Remember this convo and the “Time expenditure” line.

    Priceless.
