A Hot Mess Kind of Day

I told y’all about my epic walk to school yesterday. It probably doesn’t come as a surprise I semi-injured myself.

A little while after I left the computer yesterday morning, I noticed my left ankle was no longer flexing. It wasn’t hard to notice because I was walking rather crooked. Strangely, no pain. Over the course of the afternoon, however, some pain set in. I don’t know if it was pain cause by whatever made my ankle stop moving or pain from the muscles being forced to walk funny. My husband, being a sweetie, made a take-out run while I kept my foot up.

Fortunately they had plenty of parents this morning, so I was able to swoop in, kiss the Short Kid and disappear. But not before he lovingly improved my day.

SK: Hey, mom, I think you forgot to brush your hair today.

Me: Umm, no I didn’t, but thanks.

Should probably make a hair appointment pretty soon.

So anyway, this morning there’s less pain in my left ankle and it’s slightly more flexible, but now I have pain in my right calf, no doubt from the limping and bearing more weight.

I’m walking around today like some kind of staggering, limping, dragging creature from a low-budget zombie movie. A zombie with bad hair.

Shannon Stacey to the hair salon STAT!

I’m one of those women with a standing hair appointment. I have an irrational fear of roots.

Sorry about the ankle/calf situation. I wonder what you did? Hmmmm

Gotta love kids. Always willing to be honest! Hope your legs feel better soon. I went on a walk last Saturday and my knee’s been hurting since. It wasn’t the up hill that hurt it but the down hill. So much for my trying to get in shape!

My hair’s generally the last thing on my to-do list. I have crappy hair, so I don’t invest a lot of time into de-crapping it.

And I’d definitely try to get in shape more if it didn’t hurt so much.
