The conversational bouncing ball

Yesterday I received a mysterious email, the contents of which read: “Check out June”. Yes, that’s all it said. (It wasn’t all that mysterious, of course, because I knew who it was from.) Oooh, a scavenger hunt! The game was short lived, however, because I saw them immediately.

Tony and Charlotte are cheating on me. They’re on the cover of two of Samhain’s June releases. *does Scarlett O’Hara swoon*

I’ll admit I had a moment of possessive indignation. But…But…that’s Tony and Charlotte! Then grown-up Shan had to stick her two cents in. Yes, I know, if every model could only be on one cover we’d be stuck with some pretty ugly heroes by now. Yes, I know what stock photo means.

Anyway, thinking of On the Edge made me think of the movie Dante’s Peak.

Why? That’s one of the movies I watch when I’m trying to capture the mood to write the DG books.

So then, the thought of Dante’s Peak made me remember the year it came out and how we had two summers of competing movies:

Holy crap, look at all the lava in 1997:

Dante’s Peak vs. Volcano

Holy crap, that’s a big rock in 1998:

Armageddon vs. Deep Impact

Who won the battle?

My choices, hands down and no contest, were Dante’s Peak and Armageddon.

What do you think?

I’m with you. Armageddon and Dante’s Peak, hands down. Loved them both. And I still cry every damn time I watch Armageddon, without fail. Can’t help it.
