First, I’m at Romancing the Blog today with a wish list of things I’d like Santa to tweak in the romance market. Pop over and add to the list.
Secondly, I always edit on hard copy—I’ve never been able to get my brain to process screen pages in the same way as paper pages. Anyway, when I’m doing not the fine tuning, but a broad read-through, I’ll jot a note in the margin and keep going. The most common notation—whenever I come to a passage that doesn’t flow right or I stumble over the wording or whatever, I just draw a bracket around it and write AWK. Naturally, that’s a lazy abbreviation for awkward. Sometimes those passages are an easy tweak and sometimes one passage can take hours to fix, so I never stop for them at that point.
Well, I must have had a bad day at some point, because I’ve got a pile of pages in front of me covered with it.
Awk Awk….Awk…Awk Awk Awk…Awk…Awk…Awk Awk…
I swear it’s like having some demented, B-challenged chicken as my writing partner.

:lmao: You know, sometimes everything just comes out wrong. I have days like that, where I’m stumbling over all my sentences. Good thing we get to fix that stuff before anybody sees it.
Loved your RTB column, although I think I will keep mum about my holiday wish list.

I commented over at RTB. I think I may have written just a little too much…
