We went from snow to high 70s, with mid-80s forecast for today. Goodbye winter, hello summer! Spring? We don’t need no steenkin spring.
After having neglected it slightly, I was forced to give my rosa rugosa a drastic trimming this weekend. If you’ve ever done that, you know I now bear a strong resemblance to a person stuffed into a burlap bag with a half-starved, half-rabid, fully insane fisher cat.
We also ordered a new ATV for the tall kid (Polaris Hawkeye 300 4×4 for anybody in the know), went to a wildlife/conservation fair type thing put on by NH Fish & Game, and visited Borders. Washed vehicles. Brought a load of garden debris up to dump in my parents’ mulch pile. (Okay, so they don’t really have a mulch pile. They have woods in which we dump our garden debris.) Mucked out the husband’s work van as he and his partner no longer had enough room to actually sit in it and they hadn’t seen the floor in quite a while.
This is why I’m not a fan of summer. When it’s 10 degrees with a minus-20 windchill, nobody cares if Mom parks her butt in front of the computer. But as soon as the warm weather hits, the husband shuts down the computer and the PS2 and makes us…do stuff.
I hate doing stuff. Is it winter yet?

The only thing I intend to do is to clear out the planters and put in plants that don’t need tending. And bark so I don’t have to spend the summer weeding. :thumb: Other than that, I have books to write this summer. And hiking. Lots of hiking!
