Here’s what I’ll be doing:

And that’s only the first page. Well, technically it’s the first two pages, since I print two per sheet. The good news—this is the next to last phase. The bad news—I can only hope I can read all of my own handwriting.

I write every book like this. Every. Single. Book.
:beam:
I can’t edit on the screen, so I print the rough draft and carry it around with me, Basically the combination of what’s printed and what’s handwritten is the almost final draft. Then, after it’s all typed in, I check for THAT and OWN and all that shit.
As for the color coding…it’s not, really. It’s definitely not a plotting board type thing. It’s two things: 1) Whatever pen that’s not black I grab and 2) If I used the same color it would all blend together so I couldn’t see where one revision ends and another begins.

Jeeeee-sus, girl.
Of course, that’s what my comments look like in my HEAD (yes, even the colors). I just don’t write them down, ‘cuz I’d give myself a coronary for sure.

Woah. That’s… woah.
You know, I don’t think I reaslised how much editing I did on screen until I saw that. When I print off my first draft, and read it through, red pen in hand, there’s maybe 20 pages out of 300 with anything written on….
Come to think of it, I do HUGE, MASSIVE, VAST amounts of editing on screen, since I write out of sequence, and the sewing together is MONSTROUS.
Hats off to you, Shan. You’ve found what works for you and you do it. :woot:
