Aggravation, thy name is email.
I’m having email headaches on all fronts. The over-10,000 messages in Yahoo is the norm, but my webmail and gmail are killing me.
First, gmail and my blog don’t seem to speaking to one another any more. I don’t get emailed notification of comments or—more importantly—notification of comments awaiting moderation. I don’t like having comments waiting in limbo because I don’t know they’re there. And the moderation’s pretty strict right now because of the spammers. (Most annoyingly, almost all of my comments to my own blog get sent to moderation. Fortunately, I usually approve myself sooner or later.)
And my website’s email—shannon at shannonstacey dot com—is seriously on crack. There are no less than 20 copies of every single email (mostly spam) and I don’t know why. And they’re no longer being forwarded to gmail, so I don’t know they’re there. It’s important to get those because those are contacts through my website and I need to respond to them, dammit. So between being a pain in the ass to access and getting 20-30 copies of each email, it’s a mess.
So I don’t know if the problem lies with the blog, the host, gmail or what-the-hell-ever. For now I’ve just changed the contact addy on my site to my email addy, but I’ll have to stock up on Advil and deal with it eventually.
On another note, the husband bought Season 1 of Deadwood on DVD and we’ve got one episode left in our total glomming of it. (We cancelled HBO before they started making all these Emmy-winning series and were just showing crappy movies and amateur sex.) We’ll buy Season 2 the day it comes out (I think May 23) and totally glom it so we can re-get HBO and be ready for Season 3 to start in June.
I completely HEART this show. If Deadwood was clothes, I’d never change again. If they said “We can’t make it any more because there’s a Dunkin Donuts shortage, I would give up my iced coffees. I love it that much.

I’ve heard great things about Deadwood. Clearly I need to get the DVD so Charlie and I can watch it. Damn you. :cursin:
And :whip: on that email, Shan.

Re: comments no longer being sent to you — maybe it’s WordPress? I wasn’t getting every comment sent for moderation, but I was getting notification in my in-box that I HAD comments (yes, including my own) up until about two or three weeks ago. Now I have to go to Dashboard to see if anyone’s left a message. Not a huge headache or anything, just wanted to let you know you’re not alone.
And that might explain why one of my comments here took three days to show up.

Deadwood ROCKS!

Oh, I think you and Charlie would love Deadwood, J! You might want to rent it, though, because I think Stuart paid like $80 for the DVD set. BLEW me away, because he’s not usually so free with the money.
Yes, it was in Moderation Hell, Karen, but I didn’t even know it was there. I guess I’ve depended too much on the notifications, because this turn of events is driving me batty.
And it sure does, Jewell! I can’t believe how far behind the curve we’ve been on this show, but we’re catching up fast. :thumb:

Get a Blogger blog. Those have word verification to kick the spammers out. And if you have problems with trolls, you can additionally have the comment moderation option.
But they don’t have smilies.

I started out with Blogger, and sometimes I wish I still had it. But now my entire site is run on WordPress and I don’t know how to change it to regular non-WP. Plus, the republishing drove me nuts with Blogger.
