Post-feast thankfulness

With the carcass disposed of (much to my cats’ dismay) and my butt just about ready to plop down for Survivor, it occurs to me that I had a wonderful day.

I got to feed all my favorite guys today. My husband, my two sons, my father, and my brother-in-law (the husband’s older brother).

We almost lost Liam on his first birthday, and while he’s had no health problems since, the memory of sitting in the ICU crying but it’s his birthday over and over tends to haunt me on his birthdays (which was two days ago). My dad and my brother-in-law have both had some pretty serious health issues over the last decade. So while it might have been nice to have another female present to bear some of the workload, it was really nice having all my bestest guys at my table.

So, despite paying too much for a Butterball only to find out it didn’t have the pop-up belly button timer and having to put it back in the oven after we’d started carving it, it was a good meal with good company, and I’m very thankful for it.

And I’m truly thankful for all you guys, too.

That made me sniffle. We had so many pregnancy issues, that every time I look at these little people and see how happy and strong they are, I’m grateful to the depths of my soul. I’m glad all your guys are with you and thriving.

Awe. How nice of a day you had! I’m so glad it was good. Sounds like you needed it as much as they did.

Sounds like a wonderful day, and I’m equally sure all those guys were very thankful to have someone as special as you preparing a feast to bring them all together.

Thanks for sharing the moment.

I did NOT read that. Please. Tell me none of those wonderful men can put a plate on the table or transfer mashed potatoes to a serving bowl.

Seems like I might have some training to do.
