I’m still madly in love with my cover. And not just because it’s sexy as hell. You know, in my ever so humble and ojective opinion. *g* I’m just totally blown away by it. And in a no-doubt-rambling manner, here’s a big reason why:
It’s no secret that an author has very little say about her covers. BUT there’s always a form, no matter who the publisher is, that an author sends in with some basic description and maybe a few scene suggestions. I knew when I sent the little bit about the scene in which Jill’s standing over him next to the bed that it had the best cover potential. But I also mentioned the MGA, which is my husband’s car. It’s in the book, and I sent a picture of it taken in the driveway along with the form. And, while it would have been sweet to have that reference to my Prince Charming on the cover of my first book, I knew it had little or no sexy-cover potential. *g*
Add one freakin’ awesome cover artist. *g* I don’t know if she’s familiar with the cars. I don’t know if she simply went the extra mile because the car being in the book probably meant something to me personally. That there’s no way it happened accidentally is about the only thing I know for sure. But my husband and I were just totally blown away.
Y’all are probably familiar with the Chevy bow-tie and the Ferrari prancing stallion badging. But look at how she did the title on on the cover and then check out the MG badge:
Have I mentioned that I’m madly in love with this cover? To have my first cover not only be an awesome cover, but to have that extra something personally special, is amazing.

Very classy, Shannon. A bookseller once told me that red covers catch the most attention on the shelf, too — and I’m seeing EC titles in every store I go to now.
I’m going over now to EC to see if I can preorder, but how about posting an order link in with your excerpt?

They don’t have a preorder option for the ebooks, unfortunately, but I’ll add a link to the book when it goes live on Oct 5, definitely.
Roadtrip came in a wee bit short for print. So my options are to pair it with another author’s book for print, or to write a companion roadtrip story to combine with this one (which would be cool because then I might get to keep this cover *g*).
I would definitely like to see this book in print by next summer, though.
(And now I’m going to wander aimlessly around my house as I’ve just had an “Oh crap! People are going to read this?” moment.)

Truly wonderful cover. And yeah, from someone who, upon seeing her own covers, has had far too many “Who ARE these people?” moments over the past few years, getting a cover that actually GOES WITH THE BOOK makes it even more special.
So here’s a Little Happy Dude chorus line fer ya:

Oh bloody hell, I can’t preorder (look, I keep up with comment threads, too!)
I’m under a double deadline that week, too — please do remind us when it’s available from EC, Shannon.
You know what we need? An electronic book release calendar we can customize with our choices. Does anyone know if any such thing exists?
