I’m in camping prep mode, although this will be a short trip and we’re only taking the husband’s ATV, so even being the most die-hard procrastinator, I shouldn’t have any problems being ready to roll out after school tomorrow.
:lmao:
Anyway…
My May issue of National Geographic has been lying around the house upside-down because of the very large and very hairy black spider gracing the cover. (The short kid’s not a big fan.) So I was kind of staring through the magazine, wondering why my characters won’t talk to me, but then some part of my brain started registering the advertisement on the back cover.
Imagine…
A silver Toyota 4Runner, sitting on a a field of granite. Just stone as far as the eye (or camera) can see. Clearly showing us the possibilities of getting far away from it all. And across the span of stone, the words:
NO INTELLIGENT LIFE OUT HERE. JUST YOU.
:eyebrow:

Haaaaaa!
Behold: the dangers of imprecise language usage. Instead of “just,” the copywriter should’ve used “except,” but then using “except” would’ve messed with the punchiness of the two-syllable ending.

I’ll ponder their imprecise language while shopping for an Explorer.
