Tis a blah, blah day in NH. It’s been cold lately, and today it’s raining. And the tall kid couldn’t be more thrilled about it!
Why? Because we’ll all curl up in the living room and watch Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Neither the husband or I have seen that one, so we’ve got to fit it in before Episode III comes out. Not that I’m suffering, being a little bit of a SW nut myself. But even I’ll be relieved when it’s over, because the tall child has talked of nothing else for the last two months. And the short kid has figured out if he hums the Darth Vader tune every time I walk into a room, he gets a laugh. Brat.
So, after we get back from breakfast, the husband will kick back in his recliner and try to stay awake, the tall child will have an irrespressible urge to explain everything happening in the movie, the small child will just talk non-stop about anything and everything, and I’ll be ensconced on my end of the couch with notebooks, print copy of Roadtrop and purple Flair pen.
And that’s how the husband and I will celebrate our 12th anniversary. We came to a mutual agreement last year that the amount of money we spent on nice cards would buy two large iced coffees each, and we’d rather have the coffees.
Rain, Star Wars, coffee, and editing. <---(oops, there's that pesky serial comma)

Happy Anniversary Shan! Hope you have a peaceful day if nothing else. And please, I beg of you- lose the comma! :whip:

Happy anniversary to both of you! It sounds like a perfect day.

Happy Anniversary! :cheer:
You get the Vader tunes, trying having the last name of Luke. For the last 15 years–since I’ve been married–every place I’ve gone people can’t resist saying “Luke, may the force be with you.” Or, “Luke, I am your father.” My husband likes saying that to our kids a lot.
We have tickets to III. Thursday, May 19 at 12:01 AM!!!!! Coffee please.:coffee:
Have a nice day, Shannon. Enjoy your family.

Good luck with the edits, Shan! Happy anniversary! :woot:
Renee, I feel your pain! My birth name was Leah and starting school in the late ’70s was NO fun!

My stepmom’s name is Leah.
You have midnight tickets, Renee? That’s awesome! We still haven’t figured out when we’re going. I think the little guy would do okay at Smitty’s, since they have the big chairs and tables and stuff, but I worry about the volume. Finding a babysitter limits us to weekend showings, which probably won’t have an opening for months. We might have to all play hooky during the week, and pay my stepmom to call in sick to watch the short kid. :cheesy:
Thanks for the anniversary wishes! We’ve been very happy with our iced coffees. (And cheesecake for later)
:coffee:
Now it’s time to get ready to watch The Contender, followed by 3 hours of Survivor. (While editing of course. Back AWAY from that whip, Angie!)

Can’t wait to see SW….

Shannon, Happy Anniversary to you! Mine is later on this year, and it is closer to 17 (I’m way older, so memory fails easier).
My eldest (14) and I have scored tix to the Midnight showing of SW on Wed nite/Thurs Morn (and yes, he knows that he still has to go to school the next day). We will be attending the flick with a buncha Geek friends of mine, so it will be a blast.
As for that serial coma thing dearie, look it up in Strunk & White, he says it belongs there, so that’s why I use it (and you can just bet that I haul out my dog-eared and battered copy to prove my point every time I get the argument).
As for Darth Vader’s theme, when I got my first cell phone and learned that I could download ring tomes, I wanted to download Vader’s theme as my tone, until I actually listened to it. Instead of the bassy sounds of the Dark Sith Lord, I heard this high-pitched falsetto-like tone (more Gay Vader than Darth Vader, if you get my drift). Needless to say, I passed.

You’re making him go to school on Friday? Meanie. If we didn’t have the short kid, we’d be doing the midnight showing, and using up our last hooky day of the year. (The tall kid’s a very intense, overly-serious straight-A student, so we make it a point to have several hooky days—it’s a reward, plus a reminder to him that sometimes ya just gotta goof off.)
I want a ringtone! I’ve wanted the Indiana Jones theme for a long time, but the ringtones for my phone are not only not free, but the charge is only for a set number of usages. So it plays the stock “Heart on Fire” from Rocky.
And house style trumps Strunk & White. Many of the publishers have gone to a more open, contemporary usage which streamlines prose for the reader. But it’s a habit, just like putting two spaces after a period, so I see a lot of comma deletions in my future. (Before it goes in, next time. Hopefully. )
