Testing, I guess

I’m not sure if WP adjusts the time stamp automatically, so–what the hell, I’ll post and find out.

It’s kind of scary to wake up, having totally forgotten about the clocks changing, only to find out half the household appliances are smarter than me.

It’s even scarier, apparently, if you’re 4 and you leave the house at 3, and notice once we hit the highway, that it’s 2:15, because said 4 year old started screaming about going backwards and having to wear diapers again.

So, what’s a family to do when it’s rainy, cold, and we’re all cranky as hell from some archaic, moronic plan to make it still light out when you’re trying to convince your kids it really is past their bedtime? Go to Best Buy and buy a DVD recorder.

The husband and I will draw straws at some point to determine which of us takes a college refresher course so as to understand the how-to manifesto it came with. I think, since he’s a master electrician, he should handle all things wire & cable related. He thinks, since he hasn’t even figured out the TV goes on Antenna 2 to watch the VCR, Video 1 to watch the DVD player with sound from the receiver instead of the TV, and Video 2 to play Playstation, and the TV set to auxilliary something or other with the VCR set to channel F-1 to watch the camcorder, and I have, that I should do it.

I’m thinking we should just let the tall kid do it.

Update: I guess WP doesn’t do the timestamp. Yay. More stuff to figure out.

Lord, Shan. You understand way more than I do….. I’m still freaked out that the new TV we got three months ago works of channel 6 for digital, instead of channel 7 like the old TV…

    Ch..ch..chhhaaaaaaange…….

You know, I had some pithy comment and then I was distracted by all these toys! :blah::clap::dance:

I’m sure I’ll have a pithy comment later.

We got a Panasonic DVD recorder. It does all the formats: -R,-RW,+R, +RW, RAM, and :blah:

We really only got it because the short kid’s a Thomas the Tank Engine nut. We own most of the movies. BUT, PBS had to go and make a Thomas series. And WHEN did they decide to air it? At 7:30 on Sunday mornings.

    :wtf:

So, we promised the kid we would tape them. Well, that led to a discussion about how the VCR is almost ten years old and pretty crappy, and how it also wouldn’t record the upper channels on digital cable, like Speed channel (F1 races).

So, off we went to Best Buy. Now, normally, the young kids working in stores who snap their gum and call me buy my first name annoy the hell outta me. But not when it comes to electronics. The kid listened to my ramblings and asked me questions, and finally pointed out the Panasonic. He said it will do what you want, it has the new RAM technology, but it’s still a simple machine to operate (I guess some of them are insane.)

And a Panasonic DVD recorder for 199.00 didn’t seem like a bad deal.

(It’s still sitting in its box, waiting for somebody to be brave enough to tackle the behind-the-entertainment-center dustbunnies.)
