Heading into our first winter with the wee little frou-frou puppy, I was concerned the little princess would suffer horribly in the snow. At the first sign of snowflakes, I was out there with the shovel, making sure “her” yard was perfect. I got her winter gear to keep her delicate self warm and cozy.
These were taken early in yesterday’s snowstorm, but it doesn’t matter. If there’s a pile of snow, she wants in it. And she doesn’t want any mittens or a coat. She wants to fly through it, using her flat little face to scoop snow, throw it up in the air and try to catch it.
Running through deep snow is her favorite thing, and her whole body bucks like a rodeo bronc. It’s funny as hell. And she has no fear—it doesn’t matter how deep it is, she’s there. On more than one occasion, when the snow wasn’t as packed as she thought it was, I’ve had to pull the leash and reel her out like a fish.
Omg she’s adorable. And she’s just like my little dogs. Jaz and Bella will dive into the snow like they’re searching for lost treasure. And they LOVE the cold weather. I have to drag them inside because there are icicles hanging off their fur. It’s the polar opposite of summer, because God forbid it’s 96 degrees outside. They’ll peep their heads at the back window and bark to be let in because, ya know…they’re DYING out there.

Awwww. Snow dog!
I used to have a dog that loved the snow, but if it was raining, she wouldn’t go out the door without a lot of tugging on her leash. Once she was outside, she would gingerly lift each paw like she was stepping in cow pats. Oh the joys of animals!
