First snow day of the year
Not only do I get to enjoy my children and my husband all day long instead of having peace and quiet in which to suffer this horrible sinus/throat crud my husband gave me, but I learned of this joyful development at 5:30 am.
UGH.
Apparently the long-standing tradition of staring at the bottom of the television screen, waiting to see if your school’s name comes up, isn’t good enough anymore. Since we don’t have to catch an early bus, we always get to sleep until 6:30. But the district decided to use the AlertNow system this time, which calls every phone listed on the students’ contact forms. At 5:30 am. Nice for a lockdown or early dismissal, but overkill for a snow day.

Hugs! I’m just glad our snow came on Saturday so my kids aren’t home today. We ended up getting a foot or so. Try to stay sane!

ugh, Shan, tho’ since my daughter is on the early, early bus, I’d appreciate that call. Especially on Monday mornings when I drive her back. I’m ready to leave the house at 6, and that’s when the radio station makes the first school closing/delay announcements. Ugh. Sucks when you’re all ready to go…for nothing.
Did you at least sleep in past the regulatory 6:30?

That’s so funny–we just got notice today about our school’s new instant alert. Won’t be in place in time for tomorrow’s predicted snow, however.
I’m with Mel, I know the day care at the elementary schools opens at 6 for commuting parents. My alarm is set for 6:11. A 5:30 alert means I can turn off the kids’ alarms and go back to bed. After six, for some reason, that’s harder.
