No wonder his dog left him
So I was listening to the country station the other day in the truck. (Perhaps it’s driving a pickup truck? *g* No, not really.) I actually listen to many different types of music—current favorite CD: Ten Thousand Fists by Disturbed.
But country’s my “go to” music. I think country song writers are wonderful storytellers, and many of the songs—even the tragic ones—are like mini-romances, too. (”She Didn’t Have Time” by Terri Clark—total romantic short story.) And most off all, country keeps it real.
So I’m driving down the road when a Brad Paisley song I hadn’t heard came on. It got to the chorus and I swear I almost drove off the shoulder. I looked at my son and said, “Did he just say what I think he said?”
‘Cause I’d like to see you
Out in the moonlight
I’d like to kiss you
Way back in the sticks
I’d like to walk you
Through a field of wildflowers
And I’d like to check you for ticks
There is such a thing as too real, I guess.
Dude, not so sexy.

Oh my dear God. I’d say that’s something you’d never find in a romance novel, except there was one that featured chiggers I’ve never been able to burn out of my brain…

Brad Paisley’s hilarious like that. It’s like his fishin’ song. “Oh I’m gonna miss her, when she’s gone…oh lookey there, another bite”
PS: I’ll have you know that Terri Clark is Canadian. Yeah, she is!
- have you heard her new song Dirty Girl? Another perfect song for romantic erotica or whatever the heck it’s called now. LOL

I know Brad Paisley’s having fun with the fishing and mud on the tires and all, but this cracked me up.
