When editors attack…

First, Angie bitchnapped Jaci’s blog to punish her for her mean girl ways. Go help poor Jaci ransom her blog back, and you might win a book (because Angie said so).

Then, she made me add the ’subscribe to comments’ plug-in to my blog. Apparently people like that sort of thing. I’m 99.9% sure it’s set up so you have to choose to subscribe to the comments of that post, rather than it subscribing you automatically if you comment which I know annoys many people. If there’s anything at all that doesn’t work right about it….it’s Angie’s fault.

Hold on to your blogs, folks. She’s on a roll. (Maybe we’re not keeping her busy enough.)

    Oh, man. I hate that subscribe to comments thingie. I can’t comment on RTB unless I subscribe to comments, and then I get hammered with comments, and I have a daily email limit. :cry:

    Basically if you comment and check the little “subscribe” box, any further comments to that particular post are delivered to the email addy you listed.

    Some subscribe you by default if you comment on a post, and others have it so the box is checked and you uncheck it if you don’t want the emails. I THINK mine is done so you have to choose to check the box if you want the comments from that post emailed to you.

    It basically, if you’re following a convo, allows you to know when there’s been a comment and read it instead of repeatedly clicking back to the blog to see if anybody has added a comment.

    Huh. I now have to subscribe to each and every post at RTB in order for my posts to go through (only took me three or four lost posts to finally figure that out, since it didn’t usta be that way). But subsequent posts DON’T go to my email. I think you have to specifically request that they do for that to happen.

    However, I recently participated on another blog — Dear Author, maybe? — didn’t subscribe, but the comments DID go to my inbox.

    I kinda like it, myself. I can preview comments and see if someone’s responded to something I said/decide whether I have anything further to add to a new comment. Without, as Shan said, having to keep going back to the blog.

    Could be useful, I s’pose. :nod:

    Now that you mention it, the last time I tried to comment on RTB it wasn’t working for me and I got some kind of weird message that had to do with subscribing and I didn’t have time to figure out so I never did comment.

    And I think Dear Author’s default is to subscribe you if you comment. They have an opt-out rather than opt-in setting, I believe.

    :blah: man, angie is a roll lately. I’m glad my editors know better than to expect me to behave or cooperate in much of anything.

    having a reputation for being difficult occassionally comes in handy…. :crazy:
