2006 Holiday Edition of Getting to Know Your Friends

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

Jaci tagged me, for which I’m thankful as I couldn’t think of anything else to blog about.
Your Name: Shan
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? I love egg nog, but only one small cup on Christmas Eve. I can—and have—made myself seriously ill with the stuff. Hot Chocolate’s yummy all season long.
2. […]

Yawn & stretch

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

The post-illness/birthday/Thanksgiving/camping sluggishness persists. I’m really starting to feel like the saying my mother cross-stitched for me a while back:
I’ve gone to find myself. If I’m not here when I get back, keep me here.
Right now I’m just trying to juggle my schedule in my head and get it all lined up. I’d really, […]

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

I hope everybody has a great Turkey Day! My family’s looking forward to the “That 70’s Show” marathon. Sick, I know.
We’re leaving for camping in the morning, so I’ll be gone til Sunday night. Have fun, everybody, and try to not get hurt/hurt anybody Black Friday shopping.

Happy 6th Birthday, short kid

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

Where does the time go? Here’s you being held by your big brother for the first time:

Now you’re building dams together:

The whole world is your stage and we’re simply your supporting cast, and that’s okay because we get to bask in the warmth of your larger-than-life personality. Your silliness, your drama, your humor […]

Striped sock redux

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

Back in September, I blogged about using a self-striping yarn for the first time. (The photos for that entry were lost in the wp-images crash, and they’re not on this computer to re-upload.)
Well…I ended up ripping that sock for two reasons. 1—the jog in colors because I’d never used it before and didn’t start in […]

November rerun

Monday, November 20th, 2006

Well…between illness and chaos, I’m so far behind it ain’t even funny. This week: husband’s birthday yesterday, the short kid’s birthday Wednesday, Thanksgiving Thursday, and going north on Friday for the weekend. So my catching up is running smack into a fresh week’s insanity and I feel like I’m in some kind of […]

Under quarantine

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

I am sick. Wicked sick. I’ve been sick for three days now, but it’s finally kicked my ass. Partly because—whether due to fever, coughing, whatever—I’m not sleeping. I’m accustomed to lying in bed for at least an hour before I fall asleep. I’m not accustomed to being awake fifty minutes of every […]

Wocka wocka wocka

Comedy is hard.
I’m working on a funny novella right now—it’s not what I should be working on, but I have a hard time keeping the light, comedic side of the muse repressed, so sometimes I have to let it loose or it starts creeping into stuff that’s not supposed to be funny.
Being so […]

A Hoover Fable

Monday, November 13th, 2006

Once upon a time there was a very nice woman with many messy children who bought a vacuum. This vacuum was advertised as having all the features she loved in that appliance, and several of her friends plus some online reviews recommended the Virtuous Vacuum.
Well, Mrs. Smith took money from her household budget and bought […]

What we learn from Amazon

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

So Amazon’s got their Best of 2006 thing going on. Considering I’ve heard from authors who would know that Amazon is greatly overestimated as far as book sales, I don’t put too much stock in these things, but I’m a sucker for a “Best of” list. And an author should never miss an opportunity to […]
