That better not be a sunrise over there

I am the most incredibly anti-morning person you could ever hope to meet. It takes me hours to fall asleep, even when I’m tired. I hate mornings. I don’t like to get out of bed and I make people suffer for it. And here I am at 5:09 am with a decision to make. I just shipped the next round of Roadtrip edits off (finally, I know) and I’m pretty freakin tired now. (Why was I up til 5:09 doing this? Long, boring story.)

So I can just stay up. Of course, I haven’t pulled an all-nighter in years and I doubt the short kid will let me take a nap at any point tomorrow.

Or I can crash now. The husband gets up in a half-hour. (Hmm…the coffee kicks on at 5:35) I’d get an hour and forty-five minutes of sleep. The question is…is that better or worse than skipping it altogether?

I don’t know.

I think I’ll just go sit on the couch for a minute and think about it. If I’m still awake at 5:35 when the smell of Folgers wafts my way, I’ll take that as a sign.

(As an indicator of my mental capabilities should I not sleep, I’m presently singing “wafts my way” a la Aerosmith and Run DMC.)

(And I’m typing slow tonight. This morning. It’s already 5:17. Dammit.)

Update: 7:37 am. I’m up. The husband even made an early morning Dunkin Donuts run so I get to jump right into the iced coffee.

I guess the remnants of Katrina are supposed to visit tday. Lots of rain with something like 90% of the state under a flood watch. And no, I’m not complaining. Just wishing we owned umbrellas.

Update: 8:35 am. Backed into subcontractor’s Blazer. Yes, we have a monster tow hitch. No, it’s not catastrophic, but his licence plate holder, which is part of the molded bumper, is no longer attached.

Katrina isn’t so bad now. More of a mist here than anything. Reminds me of the British rains.
