Lesson for the day

Don’t try to have intelligent conversation on other people’s blogs when overtired and writing a horrendously torturous blurb.

Question for the Magic 8 Ball: Will this blurb make anybody want to read my book?

Answer: NO!

(It even used all caps. Nice.)

The good news is I finally got my March RWR, and I realized I get to send my First Sale info in! *snoopy dance* Of course, now I have to figure a timeline for how long I’ve been writing. I started writing when I was 5. (And yes, I wanted to be a ‘published author’ then, not just write stories for my own amusement.)

I started my first western romance when I was…14? Lots of riding around on horses. Meeting new people. My couple were deliriously in love. From page 5. Moved on to a time-travel back to the Civil War. Too bad the hero wasn’t a tree-hugging quarterback, huh? *shrug* Maybe I should go from my first rejection. Or from the date I got my computer/internet access and learned about the 523,923 things I was doing wrong. Can’t ANYthing about this be easy?

And blame Sasha. ;)

GenreRomance
ROMANCE! - Love, sweet and tender, aggressive and
compelling. You have a story of romance burning
in your heart. Happily Ever After is a given,
but you will tear their hearts asunder before
your Hero and Heroine gain True Love’s embrace.
Nora Roberts and Jane Austin are your guides.

I say pick a number in between. ;-) Congrats on your first sale news. Go figure, I ended up with Erotica on the quiz. :-/

I recognise that image! It was used for the cover of Catherine Coulter’s [first edition] historical romance THE DEVIL’S EMBRACE.

    God, I feel old now.

  3. Shannon Says:

I recognized it, too, so we’re not old. :)

And I wanted Erotica, but I got Romance. Must be the HEA-whore in me. :p
